Help is available at the Career Center:

  • Choose your major based on your academic interests; attend the "Thinking about Your Major" workshop.
  • Not sure of your career interests? Take an assessment to identify your interests through the Career Center.
  • Research specific careers and job markets through career-related alumni panels, O*Net and the Career Center's library.
  • Learn from experts in your interest area: find alumni contacts through the Career Center and do informational interviews or job shadow.
  • Identify and join activities that allow you to develop skills related to your career goals.
  • Get real-world insight into job areas that interest you.
  • Consider attending a City Semester Program during your junior year.
  • Find a related summer job.

Additional Steps to Take:

  • Study! Grad schools note improvement in GPA over time.
  • Explore specific career fields; take specific courses that relate to the field.
  • Make plans to study abroad.
  • Discuss possible majors with your advisor.
  • Find a campus job that allows you to gain skills related to your career field.
  • Find a related summer internship.
  • Volunteer.
  • Begin writing and polishing your résumé to better prepare yourself for your internship and job search.
