Tips for Graduate/Professional School:
- Attend the Graduate and Professional School Fair.
- Take entrance exams even if you're planning to wait to attend; the scores last for 5 years.
- Start applications early; they're time-consuming!
- Attend Career Center GRE, CV, and related workshops.
- Develop a file for letters of reference (request them at least 2 months before deadlines).
Tips for Employment:
- Attend Career Center workshops:
- Writing Résumés and Cover Letters,
- The Art of Interviewing,
- Job Search and Networking Strategies.
- Pick up a Résumé Guide; update your résumé, get it critiqued at the Career Center, and upload it to NACELink.
- Review the Art of Interviewing guide and request a mock interview.
- Find an alumni mentor through the Career Center to plan job search strategies.
- Discuss and refine your career goals with Career Center staff.
- Participate in on-campus recruiting and attend related job fairs; research employers.
- Train others to take your clubs' leadership roles.
Additional Steps to Take:
- Learn about the work world's behavioral expectations and practice professionalism now.
- Applications can take as much time as an extra course; allow for that.
- Visit graduate or professional school programs that interest you.
