The Career Center offers a number of free services to alumni:

Looking for a Job?
Ask the Career Center for our Alumni Job Search Packet. We'll provide you with job search tips, names of alumni working in your field and geographical location, copies of our Resume, Cover Letter and Interview Guides, and more!

Career Guidance
Career Center staff are pleased to offer career guidance to alumni. You may make an appointment for one-hour on-site session, or a 30-minute telephone session by calling (812) 866-7127 weekdays between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. In addition to individual career counseling and self-assessment inventories including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Campbell Interest and Skill Survey, you will have access to our extensive Career Resource Library.

Resume Review
Resume styles and conventions change frequently over time. If you are updating your resume and would like to have feedback on it, email it as an attachment to Margaret Krantz, including in the message the job title for which you are applying.

Free Job Listings
The Career Center publishes a semi-monthly job vacancy newsletter, Career Currents Openings. If you would like to receive a free subscription, please email your request to Margaret Krantz (be sure to include your mailing address).

Job Fairs
Graduates of the most recent five classes are welcome to attend our job fairs, College Talent Recruitment Day, held annually at the RCA Dome and Indiana Convention Center, and Spotlight on Employment, held at Heritage Hall in Lexington. These exclusive fairs are co-sponsored by Hanover College and target seniors and recent graduates of liberal arts colleges in Indiana and Kentucky.

Post Your Own Job Openings
To post current job openings targeting current student and alumni, you may FAX us at (812) 866-7125, or use our convenient online form. We will distribute your opening to all students in Career Currents Openings.

Credential Files
The Career Center maintains and mails credential files, including letters of recommendation and resumes. Alumni are invited to keep current documents in their file, noting that all letters of recommendation must be typed on letterhead and mailed directly to the career center from the referee.

Would you like to assist current students searching for jobs? Your expertise, insight into your profession and understanding of a Hanover College students’ background will prove invaluable to our students as they select, explore and plan strategies to enter their own careers. There are many ways that you can help:

Recruit on Campus
If you would like to interview our seniors for permanent positions, or any students for internships, we will set up a schedule that works for you. Drop us a line and we’ll contact you right away!

Internships
Do you find yourself postponing a pet project until you can find time? Let us find a great student to intern with you, paid or unpaid. Do you need help to develop a good internship? Let David Harden our Internship Coordinator, assist you!

Join the Hanover Network
To participate in any aspect of the Hanover Network described below, fill out the Alumni Career Network Form here, and we’ll let students know of your interest.

Job Shadowing: Host a student for one representative work day and help them to gain insight into what your field is like.

Information Interview: Spend about 20 minutes by telephone, as you discuss your job with a current student (on their tab!) Tell them about the satisfactions and challenges of your field, discuss the qualifications required to enter it and assist them in planning job search strategies.

Hanover Connection: Now in its 26th year, the Hanover Connection is a alumni career expo, providing students with a casual way to network with alumni in a wide array of fields as they learn they can "get there from here!" Share your career experiences and expertise with students during this networking event while you enjoy catching up with old friends.

Alumni Mentor Program: Would you like to develop an on-going relationship with one senior, providing guidance, networking leads, and job search strategies throughout the academic year? Your participation in this program can make a real difference to a student’s career success.
